Ridgewater faculty member appointed to Minnesota child care and education task force

Dec. 4—ST. PAUL — Nancy Hafner has been appointed to the Great Start for All Minnesota Children Task Force by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, according to a news release from the governor's office.

Hafner is an early childhood education instructor at Ridgewater College.

According to the release, the task force was proposed by a group of early care and education advocates, legislators, and the Walz-Flanagan Administration. The members are to develop a state plan to ensure "access to affordable, high-quality early care and education that enriches, nurtures and supports children and their families" and that the care and education are "provided by qualified, diverse, supported and equitably compensated early childhood educators regardless of setting."

Hafner serves as a faculty representative from an institution of higher education. Her term expires Feb. 1, 2023.
