Ontario County Public Health: 40 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday

HOPEWELL — The number of weekly COVID-19 cases last week topped 200 for the first time since early April, according to Ontario County Public Health.

During the week of Sept. 14 to Sept. 20, 202 new cases were reported, health officials said.

And as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, 40 new COVID-19 cases were reported, health officials said. With the 40 cases Sept. 21, 8,543 cases have been reported since the start of the pandemic; 115 people have died and 8,219 people have recovered.

The numbers have been on a steady rise as of lat

During the week of Sept. 7 to Sept. 13, 196 new cases were reported, and the week before that, 179 cases were reported.

Since April 6, the weekly high has been 243 cases while the low was 2, recorded the week of June 22 to June 28.

Ontario County remains in the High category for transmission, which is the highest level, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
