CT man wanted for domestic violence incident arrested, awaiting extradition to Massachusetts

A Connecticut man was arrested in Stafford on Friday after state police learned he is wanted in Massachusetts in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Marcus Lopez, 30, of Stafford was charged as a fugitive from justice after troopers were called to address on School Street on the report of an unwanted party, according to Connecticut State Police.

At the scene, the complainant told authorities Lopez was not welcome at the residence. During the investigation, troopers discovered Lopez is wanted in connection with an alleged assault involving a victim who was strangled in Southbridge, Massachusetts, according to state police.

Troopers consulted with the corresponding District Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts and learned that the felony warrant was extraditable.

Lopez was taken into custody and transported to Troop C in Tolland. State police said he was held on $500,000 bond and was arraigned later in the day in Rockville Superior Court.

Lopez remains in custody while he awaits extradition to Massachusetts.
