Berks man charged with sexually assaulting 2 girls

Reading Eagle - 4/8/2024

Apr. 5—A Muhlenberg Township man has been charged with multiple counts of rape in the sexual assault of two girls, the Berks County district attorney's office announced Friday.

Ylario Caceres, 66, was also charged with indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, and intimidation, retaliation or obstruction in child abuse cases, officials said.

The district attorney's office gave this account:

On Feb. 15, county detectives received a ChildLine referral from the state Department of Human Services alleging Caceres had sexual abused a girl, now 17.

On Feb. 27, a forensic interview was conducted with the victim at the Berks County Children's Alliance Center in Reading. She disclosed Caceres sexually abused her when she was between 13 and 14 years old at a home in Muhlenberg.

During the investigation, detectives learned a second victim also alleged she was sexually abused by Caceres. It was determined this victim is now 16 and living in New Jersey.

On March 18, a forensic interview was conducted with that victim by the prosecutors office in Ocean County, N.J. She said Caceres sexually abused her on multiple occasions starting when she was about 11 in another Muhlenberg home.

On Thursday, Caceres was charged, arrested by detectives and arraigned before District Judge Dean R. Patton, who set bail at $250,000. Caceres remained in Berks County Prison in lieu of bail Friday.

Officials said the investigation continues.
