SC Johnson gives Gaston County domestic violence shelter $40,000

Gaston Gazette - 9/16/2021

The Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center received $40,000 from SC Johnson to continue to create a safe space for women going through domestic violence.

"We are very grateful for these funds as they allow us to further serve domestic violence survivors in Gaston County," said program manager at the Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center, Brittany Froning.

The shelter will use the money to improve security measures and safety for clients. Some of the grant will go toward providing clients with necessary medical care after surviving an assault.

"This donation from SC Johnson will allow the shelter to reach the individual needs of many families in our community," said Froning.

"We know that everyone's story is unique which means that each family's needs are unique."

For more than 35 years, the shelter has served as a refuge for domestic violence survivors and their children in Gaston County with the mission to empower them by providing emergency shelter, advocacy, and support on their journey to an abuse-free life and to also raise awareness of domestic violence and its consequences.
