Volunteer for CASA

By: The National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association

The National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association mission is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are involved in the juvenile courts.

We work with state and local CASA and volunteer guardian ad litem programs to promote and support quality volunteer advocacy to help assure each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home.

The National CASA Association

In addition to providing leadership for CASA programs across the country (also known as Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem Programs), the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association stages an annual conference, publishes a quarterly newsletter, and promotes CASA through public relations efforts. National CASA offers consultation and resources that help start CASA programs and provides vital assistance to established programs.

National CASA Association's Support Base CASA works, as demonstrated by numerous evaluations and scores of endorsements: from the U.S. Advisory Board on Child Abuse and Neglect, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the American Bar Association and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention of the U.S. Department of Justice. Many of our nation's leaders are vocal in their support for CASA.

The United States Department of Justice has supported CASA since 1985 through its Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. In 1991 it named CASA an "Exemplary National Program in Juvenile Delinquency Prevention."
