Brighton man charged with sex abuse

Nov. 11—EDWARDSVILLE — A Brighton man was charged with felony criminal sex abuse relating to a March incident involving a then-17-year-old girl.

Henry J. Garrett, 57, of Brighton, was charged Nov. 5 with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, on March 26 Garrett allegedly sexually abused a then-17-year-old girl. Bail was set at $75,000.

Other felony cases filed recently by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office include:

—Quintin L. Saulsberry, 20, of O'Fallon, Illinois, was charged Nov. 9 with two counts of aggravated domestic battery, both Class 2 felonies. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. On Nov. 1 Saulsberry allegedly repeatedly hit and strangled a family member. Bail was set at $60,000.

—Alexander J. Nicholas, 30, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged Nov. 8 with unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. On Nov. 5 Nicholas allegedly failed to register with the Alton Police Department. The state sex offender database lists Nicholas as a sexual predator who has convictions for aggravated criminal sexual abuse/victim 13-16, and aggravated battery of a child. The victim was 14 at the time of the incident and Nicholas was 24. Bail was set at $15,000.

—Deandre T. Young, 34, of St. Louis, was charged Nov. 8 with unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Illinois State Police. On Nov. 7 Young allegedly was found to have a stolen Smith & Wesson M&P handgun. Bail was set at $50,000.

—John A. Sanders Jr., 35, of Cottage Hills, was charged Nov. 8 with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, both Class 3 felonies. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On Nov. 5 Sanders allegedly was found to have a .38 Special Thunder Chief Revolver and less than five grams of methamphetamine. He has a prior felony conviction for forgery out of Madison County in 2019, making him ineligible to possess weapons. Bail was set at $100,000.

—Katraelyus T. Franklin, 41, of Granite City, was charged Nov. 9 with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 2 felony; unlawful possession of weapons by a felon and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, both Class 3 felonies; and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, both Class 4 felonies. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On Nov. 9 Franklin allegedly was found to be carrying a 9 mm HiPointe C9 handgun and less than five grams of methamphetamine, less than 15 grams of amphetamine and less than 15 grams of fentanyl. He has a prior conviction for unlawful possession of controlled substance out of Madison County in 2012, making him ineligible to possess weapons. Bail was set at $75,000.

—Dale F. Moseley, 71, of Granite City, was charged Nov. 9 with threatening a public official, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On Nov. 4 Mosely allegedly threatened a Granite City police officer. Bail was set at $50,000.

—Andrea L. White, 41, of Centreville, was charged Nov. 9 with three counts of harassment through electronic communication, all Class 4 felonies. The case was presented by the Maryville Police Department. On Oct. 31 White, through "electronic communication," allegedly threatened to kill three women. Bail was set at $30,000.
